The Old Me

Here's me and myself. Me and me. Just hanging out. This beautiful photograph I have is a middle school photo. I must be around ten years old and yes, I loved wearing a tie and blazer to school every day. It's called style, people.

Now, if you look closely, you might be able to spot (in my current me, not my child me) a few grey hairs. I think this is the first time I've scanned my face since these little things started appearing, so this is a very special occasion. They grow from a very specific part of my hairline only at this time. Good for them.

I quite like them, and if there's any justice in this world I'll be allowed to have a natural streak of grey. Let me be a woman with a streak! But we'll see what happens. We'll see it unfold. Probably it will not be as exciting as all that, but I'm hoping to enjoy the greyening.

Around when this middle school photo was taken, I wanted to be a journalist. I remember this passion so distinctly. Tragically, there has been no Guardian 'Comment is free' article yet... but there's still time.

  2. Fingers crossed for a cool streak in your future, and congratulations on the greys you do have! I'm still waiting (patiently?) for mine to come in…

  3. I love the blazer and tie! I had a tie phase but it leaned more Avril Lavigne if I remember correctly.
