My Journal Can't Defeat Me

A painting of a bunny and a heart on top of green paintstrokes.

I decided on a whim to make some collages recently.

My journal tries to stop me, without knowing that I cannot be stopped. My problem is that glue sticks don't work on it, and neither does tape, really. Tape just tentatively begins to peel off after a while. It's like it has a forcefield against sticky things. But I just brute force it with enough tape and SOME of it will stick. So that's how I win (smiling devil emoji).

Anyway, I had some nice crumply, floral pink paper, so I painted hurried creature shapes all over it with the big brain idea to cut them out later and make little collages with them. It's nice to have a big painted thing to stick in. I feel powerful doing it. "Here this goes," I say, like some kind of muscled He-Man. All artists look like that when they are at home, alone. Trust me.

It's the hurriedness that was really the best element, I think. It's the best way to paint with a thick brush. Like you have to do it fast, because time is of the essence for some reason. You're robbing a bank with your paintbrush, maybe. I don't know. It's good, is all.

This bunny is satisfied. I promise.

Wiggly Butterfly & Washi Tape | Kawaii Box ♡ Review & Giveaway・°☆

✶✵ This post contains items gifted to me for review purposes. ✵✶

It's been a while, but I got another Kawaii Box, and I'm gonna go through all the good stuff in it. This is the June 2020 edition.

The real tragedy of this box was the sweets, pictured above, which fused together to create one powerful Megazord of sugar. Luckily, they still taste fine, I just have to bite each ball off with my teeth (like a tiger).

Here's a picture of everything in the box. I really liked the cute little handbag, and it makes the box feel substantial to have a kinda big, chunky item like that. It's made of some kind of super waterproof material, and feels like a swim bag. It also has a little rainbow charm attached to the handle, and a zip on the inside (as well as a smaller, zipped compartment), which I really wasn't expecting.

The rest of the items are as follows:
  • Sakura Washi Tape Set
  • Butterfly Blossom Pen
  • Little Fairy Tale 2-in-1 Pencil Sharpener
  • Chocoball Brisk White Soda
  • Sweet Bow Hair Tie Set
  • Amuse Egg Shaped Hairbrush
  • Neon Candy Highlighter

Another strong highlight is this butterfly pen. It's extremely wobbly and thus extremely fun to wiggle around. Very much like a magic wand.

This set of washi tape is also super interesting, and there's so many of them! Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head.

This little pack of hairbands is also very cute, and I like the way all the little beads clack together. Satisfying. Nice.

On the whole, the box is pretty great! My favourite item from this one has to be the bag. It's really cute but also quite useful.

Now it's time for a giveaway. For a shot at winning your own Kawaii Box, enter via the widget below. Entry is open worldwide. Good luck!

Paintings (they are good)

Two bunnies stand under some six-pointed stars in a watery purple sky.

I've been painting on some small boards, and it feels so strange because I'm such a scrap paper hound, a person for whom the crinkly and cheap paper of the world elicits a unique understanding and pleasure. But you know, sometimes you do other things. Sometimes you paint on little boards. I think the above painting is my favourite so far. I like the extremely watery look. The kind of unfinished texture of it. Also these bunnies are perfect chunky marshmallows.

Two bunnies look up at two hearts, on a background of pure red. Text reads, "that's my love, baby".

This one looks like they're in some kind of red void. Not sure what's going on.

A bunny looks upon a smiling, shining star.

This one turned out really well, probably owing to being the complete opposite of the watery method I applied to the others - I just laid the paint on nice and thick and even here, which felt pretty good - but still, I prefer the watery, messy one. Maybe it's just because I love the dark/reddish purple so much though.

What will I paint next? It could be anything. No, it'll be a bunny, probably. Or a photorealistic still life of a Babybel (genius idea).
