There's something about painting birds that I really like. They've got a lot of great shapes to them. So I had to paint some of my favourite ambassadors of the night - crows. But some little, small baby versions. I went for a kind of inky style, since that gives some texture to the paint and creates a nice, slightly ethereal and spooky vibe, which is appropriate for these sweet little scavengers. Using a lot of water also helps to create shadowy areas so that they're dark enough in tone without compromising on depth of shading.
Crows are such beautiful birds.
