VENUS POLLEN HIGH SCHOOL
Following on from JENNIFER LOPEZ LOLLIPOP, I wanted to make another book, this time with a slightly different style. This book has more of a solid paint base as I painted the general body outline for each character onto the background before filling in details with pen. Compared with the previous book's method of pen straight onto colourful background, this book has more of a richness and depth to it thanks to the background and the characters themselves working cohesively as interacting layers. The pen detail is more considered and this gives the characters a more composed and illustrative quality. The colours and the texture of the brush strokes have taken more precedence, allowing the characters and the book itself to be brighter and more playful.
As for the characters' personalities, I did give a little more thought to them. I imagine they are all students of the high school named in the book's title. My favourite spread is the one with red characters on orange and green pages. This is because the red is bright on the background pages (but not overwhelming), the composition has the two kids almost totally filling their pages, and the pen lines are at their most fluid and succinct (not too busy).

Thank you so much for your comments, especially if they include limericks about skeletons.
