The Colour Red & Self-Replenishing Art Supplies

Here are some happy red paintings. I just acquired a thick stack of really nice quality paper, so painting stuff has been a dream lately. I've been sticking to red because I thought I'd just grab one colour and keep using it for a while - nice and simple - and I'm finding it really pleasant to sit down and watch some TV and paint for a while near the middle of the day.

Having a generous pile of art materials totally makes me feel really ready to sit there and make a bunch of things. Paint tubes seem to last forever (unless they're white), and paper and journals are self-replenishing. They multiply when I'm not looking, I'm pretty sure. But one thing that's so great about art supplies is that they're always the perfect gift, because I'll always need more to add to my pile. Although I think for me, paper and journals are the most important one, because things like paints take a lot longer to get used up. I should probably start documenting how many times I re-buy or am given the Berol brush pen set (just so you know, that's an affiliate link, but I love these pens with my whole heart).

I also really enjoy a good, big, watery brush stroke. It doesn't matter if it ruins a painting and turns into a wet blob, because it feels very nice to do. I'm making a squiggly little river on my paper. It's great. It never gets less satisfying to switch between really tiny paintbrushes and really thick ones for a completely different line thickness and level of control. The paintbrush controls me, really.
