I just had the beautiful realisation that I could make a bunch of gifs of Paula Abdul's performance at the 1990 American Music Awards (possibly my favourite awards show performance of all time) and no one can stop me from doing so. So of course I'm going to do this. This is what my readers want, right? I just know that it is.
Please prepare yourself for the sheer number of gifs you are about to witness (there are 18 of them).
First of all, before we even really get into the performance itself, I love the way this notice unfolds to inform everyone that stereo sound is available, potentially. Those are some snazzy graphics. Also, Paula Abdul is in a ball. She is descending in the ball. This is what we need and deserve.
She's having... a ball (I'm so sorry).
Now she is out of the ball. She has been released. It's time for the dramatic head snaps to begin.
I really love this outfit. Maybe I'm just strangely into workwear, but I love the tights and blazer look, and the red is just good. Red is always good. She's so ready to work on a spreadsheet, but also to stand out.
I just really love to watch this performance and Paula's choreography in general because it's so snappy and dynamic and fun. Even the weirdly overly-baggy 1990s suit trousers cannot ruin this.
The MOVEMENT. The HAIR FLIPS. I am alive!
I love this little shuffle-y leg thing so much.
And here we have Paula's first scaffolding outing. The rapid synchronised hair flipping going on in this moment makes me laugh, but it is perfect, and the song deserves it.
LEGS. LEGS EVERYWHERE.
This is my favourite bit. The bit where she climbs up a staircase made of men...
...and then leaps onto them!
A normal day.
Later, there's a costume change, and a twirling stage. We have entered phase 2.
Time for SPINNING.
And this, the mass splits. It looks so cool. You can tell the crowd are astonished by this move because the collective gasp is huge.
And now we are nearing the end, it's time for a good jump...
...and to be raised up once more like a queen, or perhaps, a goddess.

Thank you so much for your comments, especially if they include limericks about skeletons.
